Love’s Philosophy

POEMS 10/03/2018

By Percy Bysshe Shelle
The fountains mingle with the river
   And the rivers with the ocean,
The winds of heaven mix for ever
   With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single;
   All things by a law divine
In one spirit meet and mingle.
   Why not I with thine?—
See the mountains kiss high heaven
   And the waves clasp one another;
No sister-flower would be forgiven
   If it disdained its brother;
And the sunlight clasps the earth
   And the moonbeams kiss the sea:
What is all this sweet work worth
   If thou kiss not me?

    I AM monarch of all I survey; My right there is none to dispute; From the centre all round to the sea I am lord of the fowl and the brute O Solitude! where are the charms That sages have seen in thy face? Better dwell in the midst of alarms, Than reign in this […]

  • If roses were red and violets could be blue

    by on 10/12/2016 - 0 Comments

    If roses were red and violets could be blue, I’d take us away to a place just for two. You’d see my true colors and all that I felt. I’d see that you could love me and nobody else. We’d build ourselves a fortress where we’d run and play. You’d be mine and I’d be […]

  • Nat Hentoff, columnist, critic and giant of jazz writing, dies aged 91

    https://www.theguardian.com/media/2017/jan/08/nat-hentoff-jazz-music-writer-village-voice-dies#img-1 They surely do not make them like him anymore. A true iconoclast. He always reminded me of the words of MLK, “Many people fear nothing more terribly than to take a position which stands out sharply and clearly from the prevailing opinion. The tendency of most is to adopt a view that is so […]
